Hello fellow Acorns!  I am Craig Schwartz and I am the Middle School math teacher.  This is my second year at Oakville but I have been teaching since 1993.  I have taught almost every grade and subject from Kindergarten through 8th grade.  Before beginning my career in Oakville, I had previously taught in Dayton, Ohio and Las Vegas, Nevada.  My wife, Tammy, and I enjoy kayaking, entertaining our dog Kaipo, and finding new adventures here in Washington.

I am looking forward to changing the way my students think about Mathematics.  I want them to see all the connections to math outside of the classroom and how it can be applied in creative ways.

I grew up in Grays Harbor, a place that holds a special place in my heart. After high school, I moved away to Ellensburg to attend college. Following my time there, I decided to return to my roots in Grays Harbor to complete my student teaching. I live here with my wonderful wife, Brooke, and our three-year-old daughter, Rylee. In my spare time, I love surfing the waves of the Pacific, hiking through the beautiful local trails, reading a good book, and watching movies—I'm a huge movie buff!

I'm thrilled to be joining the Oakville School District and can't wait to get started. I believe in creating a warm and welcoming classroom environment where every student feels valued and appreciated. I look forward to working closely with both parents and students to make this school year a memorable experience for everyone. Together, we will explore the fascinating world of social studies, connecting past events to our present and future. My door is always open, and I encourage open communication and collaboration to support each student's success.

I have a Bachelor's degree in early childhood Education with a handful of endorsements. This will be my first year teaching and I cannot express enough how excited I am to be a first year teacher in a community like Oakville. My passion for education, particularly in social studies, stems from a long line of educators within my family.
