Closed Campus, Visitors, Cell Phones and More

 

Visitors

Any visitor to the school or grounds must report to the office at the beginning of their visit to receive their “visitor’s pass”.  Elementary visitors, please see Anna Hoxie.  Middle and High school visitors, please see Leslie Gillie.  People wishing to visit a classroom must make arrangements through the teacher and an administrator in advance.  Per district policy, teachers must have 24 hours advance notice of such classroom visit.

 

Personal Electronic Devices

Students in grades K-8 are not allowed any personal electronic device (i.e. iPods, MP3 players) or cell phones during any part of the school day.  Students in grades 9-12 are allowed to use these devices until 7:55 A.M., during lunch and after the final bell rings at 2:25 P.M.  Students who use these devices during off hours will have the devices confiscated by the classroom teacher.

 

Offenses by the teacher include;

1st offense – warning, returned at the end of the day.

2nd offense – returned only to the parent/guardian at the end of the day.

3rd offense – returned to parent/guardian at the end of the quarter.

 

Closed Campus

School Policy #3242 requires the district to maintain a closed campus.

 

Sunglasses

Sunglasses are not to be worn during school hours between 8:00 A.M. and 2:25 P.M., unless prescribed by a physician and on file in the office.

 

Hats and Hoodies.

Hats and hoodies can be worn with the exception of each classroom instructor’s rules and procedures.

 

Students Walking or Being Transported by Parent/Guardians

Students who walk to are not allowed to arrive on campus before 7:40 A.M. each day unless prior approval has been made with a faculty member.  Parents/Guardians who transport their children to school should not have them at school earlier than 7:40 A.M. unless prior approval is given.

 

Vehicle Use

Vehicles must park in designated student parking areas only.  Cars are not to be taken out or moved during the day without permission from the office.  Students operating vehicles are expected to obey all traffic laws, especially those concerning speed and equipment.  Students who drive to school must provide a copy of their driver’s license, proof of insurance and vehicle registration.  Students are not to be in the parking lot during the day except by permission.  Students are not permitted in cars during the school day.  This includes riding with others, eating lunch or just sitting as well as driving.  Any damage, theft or vandalism should be reported to the office immediately.  The school assumes no responsibility for damage or theft of vehicles.  It is a privilege for students to drive cars to school.  Violation of the above rules and regulations will result in the suspension of this privilege.
